The only problem was that my top-tier Chase card was saved, but I have since changed it to a different Chase card - it's still United, it still has the same number, but the expiration and security code have changed. For all other check outs, I have been able to just manually change these before checking out, but I couldn't do that here. I didn't want to bother inputting the card again - because it's the same number, THAT could have caused an issue, so I just used PayPal. I want those miles, though!

Your checkout is confusing cause it makes it look like you can only use PayPal or Apple. I had to go through a couple areas to get that clarification that you can use a Mastercard or visa. Something that should take 10 minutes now has taken 40 minutes. !
