I purchased the Yamaha FG830 Acoustic Guitar in August 2025 and I am just blown away from the sound that comes out of this thing. I have a classical guitar and two other acoustic guitars and two electric guitars as well but this guitar sounds better than the more pricey acoustic guitar I own (name begins with the letter "T") and even looks better. That guitar cost three times the price I paid for this one yet this guitar blows it away with the rich tones and how easily it plays. The guitar appears to be professionally set up right out of the box. The action is spot on and intonation is perfect. All I had to do was tune it and I was playing in less than five minutes. It is a beautiful guitar with a deep gloss shine. And I like the way it has binding all the way around and along the fingerboard. The frets are smooth and feel like they have been polished. I play soft rock and country. Mostly finger style but I use a pick sometimes to strum. I didn't hear any buzzing sounds whatsoever on any of the songs I have played and even when I strum using the pick. The neck is smooth and allows your hand to slide quickly when changing chords. The nut and saddle material are made using urea which is like a resin material. I will probably have a bone nut and saddle put in it when it comes time to change the strings and see if there is any difference in the sound. Although, I must add, that it simply does not need any adjustments done to it right now because it sounds great just the way it came out of the box. But I am curious if it will produce an even better sound with the bone nut and saddle. Yamaha uses bone on their more pricey guitars. I do plan to buy a nice hard case for it because I plan to take care of this guitar even though it is not an expensive guitar. It is so beautiful that I would not wish any scratches upon it. The strings it came with are perfect for my playing style. I was planning to go with a lighter gauge string set because that's what I accustomed to, but I probably will not change the gauge simply because the bass tones and treble tones sound absolutely amazing just the way it is. The guitar was well packaged and arrived on time. Exactly when Zzounds predicted I would get it. There was not a hex wrench included with the guitar as the websites states there is, but that's not a problem for me because I own plenty of tools already. If you are looking for a good quality beginner guitar that you do not have to put a lot of money into trying to set it up to play like a professional instrument, then this is the guitar I would recommend. Other guitars that I have played and owned that are priced between $1200 and $1500.00 do not play and sound as good as this one. You would have to go between $2500 and $3000.00 to find one that sounds better. I am not a rich man. And I had to close my eyes to hit the purchase button. Lol. But now I'm glad I did it. I probably will not sell any of my other guitars because they have sentimental value to me and I need them to stay tuned at certain keys to play songs like Led Zeppelin Rain Song or Jackson Browne Shape of a Heart. This one will be my "Go To" from now on though. Good job Yamaha on building such a great instrument and making it affordable. Thank you Zzounds for making this product available. I am going to make Zzounds my official website to purchase music gear from this point forward. They won my heart with this product.
