Online Shopper
Post-Delivery FeedbackJun 29, 2025
I was going to order a little over $100 of stuff, not much but I'm getting back into the hobby after 30 years and I'm not familiar with the changes in that time so I wanted to start slow. The big items were a motor and speed controller, and if you don't have one the other doesn't do you any good. We'll I order both, no indication something isn't in stock, order goes through I see my invoice for the full price. After getting multiple delivery updates I look closer and see the motor shipped but not the speed controller and then the speed controller says unknown availability. I contact Tower and told that if I want to return the items I'm getting for a refund I'll have to wait to get them and pay to ship them back. My problem is that the order never should have shipped incomplete without contacting me first. I'll assume this wasn't an intentional bait and switch but even if they sold the last one before they got to my order they should have at least contacted me to tell me and give me the opportunity to change or cancel my order at that time. I was reluctant to order from Tower Hobbies because I had multiple bad experiences with them in the 90s when they were your only choice. I was going to save $20 by shopping with Tower in the end I went to another online retailer, spent the extra $20 plus another $20 to get a little better version and while I was there decided that I was probably going to fully get back into the hobby and spent nearly $1000 on batteries, chargers, miscellaneous tools and other items.
