Now that I have surgically repaired toes, courtesy of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware, my footwear seemed ineffective. The selection of 9E wide footwear is extremely limited so I thought I would try to see if 4E wide footwear (along with sizing up from 11 to 12) would fit my reconstructed feet. I normally wore 2E wide footwear prior to my near-death experience but was able to wear 4E wide work boots before my toes really degenerated. I ordered a pair of 4E wide leather 'logger' work boots from ShoeMall.com since they had a plethora of 4E width selection and returns were easy if the footwear didn't fit and I would just be out of some shipping costs, so it was a low risk purchase. I went with the 'logger' style boot because I sensed I needed a solid base under my feet and my heel needed to be slightly elevated. The boots arrived late Friday afternoon and I tried them on Saturday morning. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The fit was fabulous and I ordered another pair because the stock was low for this style and I like to allow one pair of leather boots to "air out" while I wear the other pair (I may have to invest in some cedar boot trees as well).
