When trying to apply 5 gift cards to a purchase payment, the submission did not work and I kept getting errors. In speaking with customer service, I was told there was some issue with the online service (users could not login) and an update was being performed. The agent advised to retry in 30-60 minutes. I kept my session active (to avoid hitting any login issues) and a few minutes later I tried using different gift cards on my account, which worked. I was able to continue shoping with the other gift cards on my account, but the 5 that originally hit the errors were zeroed out. I was on hold for > 30 mins waiting to talk to an agent (who was excellent) but the manager who could rectify the situation was gone for the day. Given today is the deadline to receive items by Dec 24th, I proceeded to purchase the items by debit and will have to try and convince the manager to somehow do a refund/apply gift card transaction to sort this out without incurring an additional cost to me directly. Also, there were different values showing for gift card balances on the payment/apply screen of the purchase compared to what was listed in my account/profile. And one gift card that was used last night still showed a $50 balance. The whole gift card system needs fixing. It would also be nice to remove the 5 card max per order. All it did was cause me a headache of having to divide my order into multiple orders. Same amount was purchased/spent in the same session, so what is the point? My company rewards program gives us $50 gift cards, and I will be reluctant to select Roots if this experience continues to be difficult. Love the product and want to keep buying, but needs to be easier.
