Post-Delivery FeedbackAug 23, 2025
In the survey you ask if the order was received " on time ". No delivery date was given so I can not say if it was on time. A shipping notice was finally sent with a day & it was delivered on that day. There was no tracking available to see where it was in the process. In the reviews for the Barracuda4 Lathe Chuck System # CSCBARR4, very many of them complained that the wooden box it's packed in was broken when received. In the special notes when checking out I asked that the box be packed carefully to avoid this from happening. It was wraped in a single sheet of small bubble wrap & taped. That did not prevent the box from breaking in shipping. The bottom was completely loose from the four sides. After a closer look I determined that was due to poor glue, not enough of the poor glue, & NO nails to hold the two separate pieces that made the bottom onto the sides. After cleaning the individual chuck & jaw pieces I weighed everything on my digital postal scale & it totaled out to 10 & 1/2 pounds. That's a lot of weight to put on two separate bottom pieces with minimal glue & no nails. I said the glue was poor because it didn't even stick to the wood. I scraped it off with my fingernails. Cheap stuff. Really cheap stuff. You should talk to the little asian people that make those wooden cases for this item & tell them, more glue, better glue, & use some damn nails to keep it all together. I scraped the old glue off, re-glued the pieces & used some 5/8" pin nails to hold it all together. I haven't used the chuck yet but it looked to be in good condition & worked well as I cleaned it from all of the oil that it was shipped with. This is what I'll tell my woodturning guild members.
