Purchased two 7-round Springfield Armory 1911 mags from Midway USA, received quickly, but both mags have extra-long followers that interfere with the front of the stn stl mags, unable to load 45ACP ball ammo without a real struggle! The mags were sent back to SA, and MidwayUSA was notified as to the poor quality. SA did send me an RMA tag, but SA Customer Service seemed a bit incredulous that the mags could be faulty. My other mags for my full size 1911 pistols are Wilson and Ruger and are perfect. The SA mags were received yesterday AM; I attempted to load rounds into them, then immediately stopped and phoned SA. These are supposed to be really good quality mags but the followers are way too long in the lower front follower area, clearly jamming immediately as I tried to load them with standard production ball ammo by hand. I prob could have changed out the SA followers at a higher cost to me, but why should I need to do this? I very likely will use another major brand for my next purchase from MidwayUSA. I selected SA from MidwayUSA due to the SA reputation for good quality, and also the MidwayUSA pricing, but won't make that mistake again. Even worse, I am seriously considering a third 1911 pistol, this time by SA, but unfortunately, I need to rethink that - reliability is paramount when using any pistol for home or personal defense. Mags are the heart of the 1911 system and MUST work period. These mags may be made offshore from USA, can't tell by the markings which were almost non-existent on these mags. Thanks to MidwayUSA Customer Service for their reply once notified - I contacted SA instead because no way to know if existing Midway USA stock would have same problems if exchanged. We will see what happens, but my trust in SA is somewhat lessened due to the current issue and my call with SA Cust Svc. I do appreciate that SA send an RMA tag but can't know if the resulting mag inspection will bring resolution; SA said only (and repeatedly) that they will get the mags back and see if they "are within spec", no mention of whether they will be interested in seeing if these two actually work as designed - they don't.
