I had a terrible experience making a gift purchase for my niece. I contacted customer service prior to the purchase to confirm my niece could exchange the gift. I was told by phone that she could easily exchange the item, just contact customer service because they would be able to see it was shipped to her and billed from me and she could just get something new without sending anything back. That sounded inaccurate to me, but I confirmed that she could send the item back and get credit to order what she wished. After sending the gift, she was interested in exchanging one of the items. I chatted with an agent and she told me I was told incorrectly. She said my niece could return the gift, but the credit would go back to my AMEX, which therefore would mean she wouldn't get to keep ANY GIFT!!! She said she can't return an online order to a store either, so at this point, I have totally wasted my money bc she has a gift she doesn't want and I will likely have to ask her to return it for nothing, then I will have to go out and buy her a new Christmas gift! I will NEVER order any gift from MAC cosmetics again.
