Clinique and CapitalOne had a shopping deal - buy $75+, get $50 back. An absolute dream of a deal that I even made a Clinique account for. But nope. The two sides kept volleying back and forth taking absolutely no accountability on fulfilling this deal. Because of technical or some other issue, no one could say whether or not I would get the credit (activated by clicking a button in the portal, then making a purchase). Of course the fine print said due to certain scenarios outside of my control the deal may not apply. It could take 45+ days, etc etc with no guarantee of it applying. So I called both sides and asked about the status of the promotion/cash back. Literally no one could say anything useful and kept telling me to contact the other side or "they couldn't do anything about it" and "didn't know". What is the point of these offers if the companies have no accountability to follow through or help me. I didn't want to pay full price, I wanted to take advantage of a great deal and now I've basically been scammed into buying products at a price I didn't agree to. Clinique just said I could return my order - AKA continue wasting my time - because they couldn't simply follow through with the promotion THEY offered through CapitalOne. The agent even had the gall to say "we didn't have that promotion" and "this is not a deal we offered". Hello? Is lying just allowed now? Sufficient to say I am not trusting any Clinique shopping offers moving forward, through any external partnership/portal. I have other skincare brands to try.
