I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent purchase and subsequent customer service experience with City Furniture.
I ordered a couch online for $779.95, with a delivery fee of $119.99, for a total purchase price of $954.54. Upon delivery, the couch arrived with multiple adhesive stains and visible damage in several areas.
After I reported the issue, City Furniture sent a service technician to inspect and clean the couch. During the visit, the technician advised that the damage could not be repaired or cleaned because it appeared to be a manufacturing or material defect.
While the technician was present in my home, I contacted City Furniture customer service and spoke with a representative named Isaac. During that conversation, Isaac informed me that City Furniture would provide a 15% discount on the couch due to the condition in which it was delivered. I was told that the adjustment would be processed within a few business days.
However, when the refund was issued, I received only $64.19. This amount does not correspond to the 15% discount that was discussed. Fifteen percent of the couch price ($779.95) would be approximately $116.99. Furthermore, when I later contacted customer service to inquire about the discrepancy, another representative reviewed the account notes and stated that the discount was supposedly intended to be 15% of the delivery fee. Even if that were true, 15% of the $119.99 delivery fee would be approximately $18.00, which still does not match the $64.19 refund that I received.
As a result, I have received conflicting information from City Furniture representatives and have been unable to obtain a clear explanation regarding the refund calculation.
Beyond the refund issue, I am disappointed with the overall customer experience. I switched from Rooms To Go expecting a higher level of service, but instead I received a damaged product and inconsistent communication regarding its resolution. Additionally, I had to rearrange my work schedule and days off on multiple occasions to accommodate the original delivery, the service visit, and the time spent communicating with customer service regarding this matter.
I am requesting that City Furniture review this case, honor the discount that was originally promised, and provide a clear explanation of how the refund amount of $64.19 was calculated.
I would appreciate a prompt resolution to this matter and look forward to your response.
