I've had a set of Calphalon pots and pans for over 15 years. Always believed in the 'quality' the brand is known for.
This past Black Friday, I decided it was time to 'treat myself' to a new set, and "splurged" after a lot of back and forth between Caraway, Hexclad, Calphalon and MadeIn in the 13 piece Premier Hard-Anodized Nonstick Cookware.
The purchasing process and price was enticing, and I have nothing to complain about that.
The problem lies in the fact that the 2.5 qt pot once received, has a rough edge on the brim of the pot, never washed, never used. That's the way it came.
I called to ask if this was even worth attempting to submit a claim for.
The person on the phone said 'yes, go ahead and submit'. So I did.
They requested numerous photographs, very specific. I did all that was asked from me, to receive today, an email saying that the imperfection does not fall under the warranty coverage, and that since the scruff is where it is, it does not interfere with the performance of the item.
Yes, I agree that it doesn't interfere. But it's the principle of having a brand new set, never used, that I chose from deliberating A LOT between Caraway, Hexclad and MadeIn and that now, every time I use that pot, I'll be reminded of the fact that a company that stands by the quality of their pieces, decided I need to live with this imperfection, when in reality, they are the manufacturers who could easily recycle this item and make a new one in a heartbeat.
I'm extremely disappointed and will call Calphalon to see what my options are.
Right now, I feel like returning it all and go with another brand.
