For many years, I have bought a lot of photography gear from B&H both online and in your awesome NYC store. I’ve always been very satisfied. This purchase was a different experience I’m not happy with. The Brydge Pro Dock was easy to purchase online, I was given the option to ship it quicker, and I also purchased the two year Allstate insurance. So far so good. But when I received it, I noticed the low quality thin cardboard shipping box was collapsed appearing crushed. Upon opening it, I noticed very inadequate packing materials - the small inflated plastic, too few, half of them deflated, and the product box was at the bottom of the shipping box with little to no cushioning by packing materials since most were deflated. Then I began to open the product box and noticed the two box seal tape pieces were already cut. When I opened the box I noticed that most of the pieces were not covered in plastic, not sure if they were to have been, but some were. Strangely I also noticed a loose Duracell AAA battery rolling around in the box. I tried calling B & H Support but your hours are not long so no support. I then emailed Brydge, the manufacturer of the Pro Dock, there was no support telephone number. I let them know not only was the packaging inadequate and the shipping box looked crushed, that the product box had already been opened, that there was a loose battery inside the box, while no battery is required for the device, and that after full assembly the Brydge Pro Dock did not work. Brydge Tech Support promptly replied to say B & H likely shipped me a “Customer Return labeled as new”, that the battery must have fallen into the box where they ship from, that Brydge’s experience with B & H is that “They typically don’t conduct a thorough inspection of returned products.” I was given a set of instructions for trouble-shooting the dock and it began to work - I hope the trouble shooting steps will not be required again and part of me is concerned that may have been why the dock was returned by the first purchaser. All in all, a very surprising and dissatisfying experience, and I’m requesting B & H send me a new, unopened Brydge Pro Dock covered under the two year Allstate insurance plan, no cost, no taxes and no shipping expense for overnight delivery.
