Post-Delivery FeedbackOct 14, 2025
We ordered a custom and made-in-USA sofa and thought we were getting the most comfortable cushions for the back, having asked for exactly the same specs as the one we sat on in the showroom, but the delivered sofa wasn't as comfortable as the one in the store. We replaced the cheap fiber stuffing in each of the three cushions with a queen-sized down comforter wrapped around a pillow (i.e., three "pig in a blanket" arrangements in total) and now the cushions feel high quality. For the extra $300-400 (retail) of materials, I feel Bassett missed the mark...we would have paid that much extra to get better quality. I hope the internal frame and seat cushion are better quality as we hope to keep this for at least 10-20 years as we did our last one from another maker. The next time I buy a sofa, i'll ask the salesperson to show me what materials are used inside the cushions, because this one was a disappointment. The fabric is beautiful, though. I think everyone focuses on "eight-way hand tied" sofas (whatever that actually means) but then the cushions are stuffed with dollar-store stuffing. These custom sofas are manufactured in the US, and the frames are plywood (not American hardwood), but the plywood may be a more stable, long-lasting material. Generally, I recommend that you not buy on line, and even if you go into the store, buy the one you sat on and liked rather than special order, as there may be surprises.
