The Reluctant Repair Guy

I’ve used Appliance Parts Pros a few times over the years to repair parts on washers and dryers. Their prices are good, but you can find comparable items sometimes cheaper through other online retailers. There also are shipping charges, while many other retailers offer free shipping. However, APP usually has the OEM part I need in stock and they have quick shipping and delivery of items, which are big considerations when an appliance is out of service and you want to get it back into operation ASAP. My most recent purchase was for a control board that went out on my elderly neighbor’s Whirlpool washing machine that she just purchased slightly over a year ago. It’s out of its one year warranty and neither Whirlpool nor ABC Warehouse, where she purchased it from, would do anything to remedy the issue. She paid a local appliance repair guy $179 to come out to tell her the control board needed replacing and that she would be better off replacing the machine. I ordered the part for her, which she will reimburse me for, and I’m going to replace it for her for free. I despise the short planned obsolescence of the way most washing machines are made today and the rip off repair companies associated with the industry!
