I would prefer that the pricing be accurately reflected in the product selection without the customization. In other words a different item, ie: item #1 - XX year/model black - mass pile w/o mass backing; item #2 XX year/model grey - mass pile w/o backing etc.
I notice that all of the different retailers do this for carpet and that's probably why you have it set up that way but it's confusing on their website just like on yours. As a consumer, especially when using Google results, I want to see what the price is out the door not the bottom end and then add my options.
It might be designed to get more people to the website with a lower price point and hoping they still purchase after the additions but I think its counter productive and leaves consumers, or me at least, feeling duped.
Also, as a person who searches for a lot of car parts online, I use detailed searches to find the part (ie "1993 ford ranger ext. cab interior carpet grey" instead of "ford ranger carpet") and so adding the 'additional' items in your inventory on the website might lead to more result hits and if the pricing is accurate from the google ad then most of the time it's sold, for me at least.
Haven't received the product yet but several people I know have had good results with you guys so we will see.
