Slughead
Post-Delivery FeedbackOct 6, 2025
I appreciate Midway's excellent price on a case of Rio shotgun shells. I like that brand a lot, and was glad to see it as a new purchase item at Midway. Rio shotgun ammo is excellent in the buckshot and slug categories.
However, when I purchased a case of Panzer brand slugs a few months ago, and then AGAIN, this purchase of Rio ammo, the UPS deliveries were wrong and apathetic. BOTH times, the shipper ignored instructions to deliver the package at the "top of the stairs at the rear of the house." Instead, BOTH times, the clearly marked "Ammunition" case boxes were left out IN THE RAIN, at the side door, on the lower level. An obvious refusal to follow the delivery instructions and exact address.
Additionally, since it was raining at the time of delivery, I left a chair (at the top of the stairs to UNIT B in the rear -- no fence involved) with a tarp over it, PLUS A NOTE on the door, to cover the box under the tarp on the chair. That protection from the rain was completely ignored because the UPS person didn't even try to properly deliver it -- BOTH TIMES! Also, the UPS delivery person could have easily placed the packages, BOTH TIMES, on the front porch on the 1st floor, which is covered by the roof!
This makes me upset because knowingly delivering ammo, in a cardboard box, exposed in the rain all day long, caused the Panzer ammo cardboard case package to COMPLETELY fall apart from being soaking wet all day from the rain. Fortunately, the individual boxes in the case were "recued" before the water saturated through those boxes of 10 shells each.
The recent order for the Rio ammo was also left on the side door in the rain all day, but the cardboard dried out after bringing it inside, and survived, after waiting 2 days to open the box. The indiviual boxes of 10 shells were not water damaged.
I don't know if I'll buy ammo any more from Midway, unless they start using a shipping company that cares about whether the contents of the package are protected from permanent damage due to the shipper's negligence and apathy of an obvious non-deliverable weather reason. I could've have waited an extra day or two to have ammo delivered to me in DRY condition, in a DRY box.
There should also be a Midway purchase option for "package protection insurance," so the customer doesn't end up with ruined merchandise, as a result of negligent and apathetic shipping. Sportsman's Guide Online offers this package protection insurance, and it's worth every cent. I can always choose to buy my ammo from them, instead of Midway, if I'm going to be stressed and worried about damage to my items by the delivery company that couldn't care less.
