First, not Hockeymonkey’s fault, but the order was rescheduled for delivery twice. Not the end of the world, but frustrating.
More frustrating was that when I received the shirt, I didn’t realize until 60 hours after delivery, while my son was putting it on at the rink, that the shirt 1. Had no tags and 2. Was used and damaged. That shirt was $170. I would expect if an item is returned it’s inspected before being sent to another customer. This wasn’t, or staff didn’t care.
I had no choice but to have my son use it, or he wouldn’t have been able to play that morning. I contacted support (I suspect a bot) and was told that since he wore it I was stuck with it. When I tried to press the conversation further the bot stopped responding and I wasn’t able to start a new conversation. I have no time to sit on hold, so I understand I’m now stuck with having paid full price for a used, damaged item.
My son LOVES the shirt, and is oblivious so it is what it is.
This was my first purchase from Hockeymonkey, and it wasn’t a good experience. While I won’t be that person who says they’ll never shop there again because let’s be real, I probably will, I won’t be recommending the online store and have cancelled my plan to take my 8 year old to the store in my hometown for the time being.
I’m just starting this trek into hockey bankruptcy with my kiddo, and Hockeymonkey is so far not proving to be a place I can trust for his outfitting.
I wish it was a better experience, but for now, meh.
