Sizing woes
Post-Delivery FeedbackOct 10, 2025
The dance teacher recommended Discount Dance and told me which shoes would fit her class requirements. But there's no way to know how the sizing is going to fit my kid. I spent an hour studying the fit guidelines and reviews for the three pairs of dance shoes my kid had to have, then when they came not one--not ONE--pair was the right size. Tap were too big, and jazz and ballet were too small (even though the jazz shoes were a bigger size than the too-big tap shoes). Since returns are not free or quick, I was very hesitant about buying again. Again I spent time studying sizing, again I placed an order and waited, and in the second order two of the three pairs of shoes fit. But I seriously had to do a third order to get the right size in the tap shoes. And for the returns I had to find a box the right size and buy packing tape and package everything up and look up order numbers to include inside the package plus pay for the return shipping label. Amazon was initially more expensive, but it would have been two weeks faster and the same price or better once you factor in the cost of the returns. I don't think this is a bad company, but I am spoiled by Amazon's fast shipping, clear sizing guides, and free returns. Dance shoe sizing is just too hard to get right the first time. Amazon or a local place where you can try things on would be possibly more expensive but definitely a lot less headache.
