Site Experience FeedbackSep 16, 2026
Extremely disappointing experience for a luxury brand.
I am very disappointed with both La Mer’s promotional experience and customer service. The Fall promotion promised 10 samples, yet within only two days, 2 of the 10 samples were already unavailable. Even the checkout experience was disappointing — the website only allowed me to select one sample when the promotion had promised at least two.
What made the experience significantly worse was the customer service. The representatives I spoke with appeared to have very limited knowledge of La Mer’s own promotions and gave me completely different information at different times. In one conversation, the representative insisted that I needed to spend $3,000 to qualify for an item, even though the promotional information showed that the threshold was $1,000. When I pointed out the conflicting information and explained that I had received different answers from different representatives, I was essentially told to disregard all other information because the representative was giving me the “final” answer.
The tone of the interaction was also extremely unpleasant. Instead of patiently clarifying the promotion, the representative repeatedly told me to “listen” and “let me complete,” in a very commanding and impatient manner. This is not the level of service I would expect from a luxury brand.
La Mer is a high-end brand, but this experience felt worse than what I would expect from many mass-market or lower-priced brands. Luxury is not only about the products themselves — it is also about the shopping experience, consistency, attention to detail, and quality of service.
The website is another major issue. It is consistently slow, extremely laggy, and difficult to navigate. Shopping on the official website should not feel like such a frustrating process.
La Mer seriously needs to improve both its website and, especially, the training and service standards of its customer service team. If a promotion is being offered officially by the brand, customer service representatives should be thoroughly familiar with the terms and provide consistent, accurate information. Customers should not have to take screenshots and argue with customer service simply to understand a promotion.
I have always associated La Mer with luxury and exceptional service. Unfortunately, this experience delivered neither.
