Lately, I have become disenfranchised with Horizon Hobby. I used to be an Elite Member (paid membership). Now participate as 2nd Gear membership. Can't talk to a live person unless 1st gear level, chat keeps disconnecting/timing out while discussing with product specialist waiting for their reply, information (i.e. tech specs) on products is non-existent. Customer support/relationship just really sucks for the most part anymore, and since Tower Hobbies is part of Horizon Hobby, they are just as bad.
You have probably heard this all before - but the customer support for such a big player in the RC airplane hobby really sucks anymore - especially when I purchase stuff from Horizon Hobby and can't even talk to anyone when the need arises.
Honestly, if there were other "sellers" in the marketplace that would offer "live" support, I would most likely ne purchasing from them. At least with the old Elite membership, I could belong to that as an extra "nominal" annual expense to get help when needed. The model now only supports those that spend a large chunk of money. I bet if Horizon Hobby was to look at what I spend at Tower Hobbies and combine that with what I spend at Horizon, I might make the first gear status - but it doesn't; work that way even though the two are owned by the same company.
I apologize for sounding so negative, but some things have gone on with Horizon Hobby over the past few months that have really bothered me; but as touched on above, there is really no other place to go.
To share one last thought, I have always been a JR/Spektrum flier. Based on the Spektrum batteries I have been disappointed with, and the lack of support for radio questions/issues I have run into since retiring and getting back into the hobby, I am serious considering changing my radio platform in the near future. Just sharing my thoughts.
