Post-Delivery FeedbackOct 4, 2026
I was really excited to order the Kyosho Javelin re-release from Tower Hobbies. I had a 25% off coupon, which was one of the main reasons I chose to order from them, and I also liked the feature on their website that shows the additional parts and equipment needed to complete the build. I ended up spending around $1,000 on the entire order.
Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there.
Shipping was surprisingly slow. While several other retailers could have delivered similar products within a few days, my Tower Hobbies order took almost two weeks to arrive.
While checking on the order, I also noticed that I had not received any loyalty points for the purchase\. When I contacted customer service, I was told I wasn’t eligible for the points because I had checked out as a guest. What made this especially frustrating was that they could clearly see my account, verify the order, and confirm that I was the person who made the purchase, yet they were unwilling to credit the points.
For a customer who had just spent roughly $1,000 with the company, that seemed like an incredibly shortsighted way to handle the situation.
At that point, I requested an RMA and decided to return the entire order and purchase everything through my local hobby shop instead. The local shop may be a little more expensive, but the customer service and overall buying experience are considerably better.
To make matters worse, Tower Hobbies also requires the customer to pay the return shipping in a situation like this, meaning I am now paying out of pocket to return an order because I was dissatisfied with how their customer service handled the purchase.
Tower Hobbies lost a roughly $1,000 sale and potentially a long\-term customer over something that should have been very easy to resolve.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tower Hobbies. I’ll gladly spend a little more with my local hobby shop or another retailer where customer service and customer loyalty actually seem to matter.
