Post-Delivery FeedbackOct 19, 2026
I purchased a Halloween costume through Spencer’s. Although the package arrived on time, I was dissatisfied with the quality and decided to return it. The packing slip clearly stated that returns were accepted within 30 days, either in-store or by mail. However, when I attempted to return the item to Spencer’s, I was told that costume returns were not accepted there and that I needed to go to a Spirit Halloween location. I followed these instructions and drove to the nearest Spirit Halloween, only to be told that, as of October 16, they no longer accepted returns and would only allow exchanges. I explained that I had purchased the costume through Spencer’s and showed them the packing slip stating the 30-day return policy, but they still refused my return.
I then contacted customer service, hoping to resolve the issue, but the representative repeatedly provided the same response without offering a solution. When I requested to speak with a supervisor, I was initially told that none was available. I was then offered the option to wait on hold, which I accepted. After approximately 5–10 minutes, the representative ended the call without giving me an opportunity to respond or resolving my concern.
This experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I relied on the return policy provided with my purchase, followed the instructions given by Spencer’s, and still was unable to return the item. The inconsistency between the advertised return policy and the restrictions being enforced raises serious concerns about the transparency and fairness of these practices. I believe customers should be able to rely on the return policy provided at the time of purchase, and I expect a full refund and a more professional approach to resolving customer complaints.
