Disappointed Veterinary Partner
Site Experience FeedbackNov 8, 2025
Dear Sir/Ms,
I was writing to throw my name in the ring with other veterinarians who are disappointed with SmartPak/SmartEquine changing the veterinary discount from 50% to 20%. This was very disappointing, and quite frankly a shock to my wallet.
I am an equine veterinarian of 18 years. One of the few who have stuck with it and stayed in the field to support and provide medical care to both of our target demographics: the horse and the horse owner. I have recommended your supplements for most my career. And, have encouraged clients and colleagues to reach out to your company for recommendations and supplements. I felt the 50% discount on supplements, for myself and my colleagues, was a good faith trade for our mutual support. To have that removed is a kick in the gut. It is not as if this field isn’t hard enough, not enough stacked against us, not enough public pressure, not enough industry pressure, that we then have to pay more for our own horse supplements while I would assume you as a company would expect us to still continue to strongly recommend your products.
Sadly, now, I have to rethink how I recommend your company. You pulled your support to the industry and therefor left you fellow demographic support floundering. Therefore, I have to slow or even stop my recommendations.
It would have been nice had your company reached out to us as co-supporters. Would have been nice had your company gave us options for discounts. But, sadly a 30% price hike was simply implemented and tough luck for us. I will rethink and recalculate my purchases from you from now on. And will have to recommend the same for my clients.
If there is any way to bridge this gap, I welcome communicating with your team. But if not, this is a burn of a bridge with people you relied on to recommend your products. It’s not a smart decision. I hope to hear from SmartEquine,
Emily M. Gilmette, DVM
