I ordered 3 items. I received one package with two of the items. I received a second package with an item that I had not ordered, and I did not receive the third item I had ordered. In the package with the wrong item, there was a receipt with someone else's name and address on it. I contacted customer service by phone, and explained the situation. The person had difficulty understanding my concerns. She initially insisted that the correct item had been delivered. I explained several times that I had received the wrong item, and that it appeared it was someone else's order that had been packaged as mine. The person put me on hold twice for a total of 30 minutes. Eventually, she explained that my item was "missing" and that a refund would be issued only after I returned the mistaken item and it was received by Roots. She said that it would take 24-48 hours to issue a return label, and that I would then have to mail in the item that was sent to me in error, and once they received it, they would issue a refund for the item that was never sent to me. I tried to explore other solutions, as I said that I would like to receive the item I had ordered. She explained that I would have to re-order it once my refund was processed but she could not guarantee I would get the same sale price. I said that I was not satisfied with this outcome as this was not my error. I asked that the refund be issued more quickly but she said that this was not possible. I also asked that my shirt that I had ordered be sent to me, and she said that this would not be possible as I would have to re-order it. I said that this was not an acceptable resolution as this was their error. She offered to connect with a supervisor but then said that it would take 24-48 hours for someone to get back to me. Although it was Roots that made this error, they are not taking reasonable steps to remedy it. In addition, I am concerned about my privacy having been compromised if my item and my receipt were sent to the wrong person with my full name and address. I received someone else's receipt with their full name and address which compromises their privacy. I understand that people make mistakes, but it is very disappointing that there wasn't a better remedy. I would have at least expected an immediate refund, or my item being re-shipped to me. But neither of these are options. I have been a loyal roots customer in the past, but will not purchase anything online from them again. I have also read online that many other people have had similar experiences with errors being made and poor customer service when a resolution was sought. This is very disappointing as I used to think that Roots was a good company.
