I placed a large-ish order, which included 4 pairs of socks, 2 of them green. Unfortunately, I guess the green socks became out-of-stock so I was only sent 1 pair instead of 2. Rather than Roots asking me if I simply wanted another color to replace the 2nd green pair they ran out of, they just automatically canceled that pair of socks so I had to place an entirely new order in order to ensure everyone of my gifting list received the item I had planned. I would have much rather Roots have reached out to me to ask if I simply wanted a different color to replace the item that they couldn't fulfill. Instead I had to place an entirely new order (and pay $10 in shipping to essentially get the $12 pair of socks I had originally ordered, which did not seem fair to me).
Roots could probably better mange their inventory online so this type of thing doesn't happen. Or if it does, have a better process in place to communicate with customers about their options before canceling an item that can be easily replaced by an identical item (in a different colorway).
