Here is a summary of my experience on your website today:
The Good (What Worked Well):
Visual Design & Branding: The website is visually stunning. The high-quality imagery, consistent use of your iconic black and white theme, and clean layout make for a premium and professional feel. It truly reflects the MAC brand.
Product Discovery & Filters: The "Shop By" categories (Finish, Formula, Collection, etc.) are extremely helpful for a beauty enthusiast. I particularly appreciate the ability to filter by undertone and shade depth for foundations and concealers. It makes finding the right match much less overwhelming.
Shade Range Presentation: The detailed shade descriptions and multiple product photos on different skin tones are invaluable. It builds confidence when shopping online for complexion products.
Access to Information: The "Backstage Tips" and product how-to linked throughout the site are a fantastic resource. It adds educational value and inspires how to use the products.
The Bad (Areas for Improvement):
Website Performance / Speed: At times, the site felt a bit slow to load, especially on pages with many high-resolution images and videos. This can be frustrating when you're trying to browse quickly.
Search Functionality: The search bar could be more intuitive. When I searched for a specific product name, it didn't always come up first. Instead, I was shown a broad category page. Improving the search algorithm to prioritize exact product name matches would be a big help.
Clarity on Stock Levels: I added a popular lipstick shade to my cart, but it wasn't until I was almost done checking out that I received a notification that it was out of stock. It would be better if this was indicated more clearly on the product page itself (e.g., "Low Stock" or "Out of Stock").
Mobile Experience: While the mobile site is functional, the buttons felt a little small at times, and navigating back and forth between product pages and the home page wasn't as smooth as on desktop. Optimizing the touch experience would be great.
Suggestions for the Future:
A "Live Swatch" Tool: An augmented reality (AR) tool or even more video swatches would be an incredible addition to help visualize how products look in real life.
Better Saved Cart Functionality: It would be nice if items saved in my cart remained there for a longer period, or if the site would send a reminder email about them.
Streamlined Checkout: Offering a "guest checkout" option that is just as prominent as creating an account would speed up the process for one-time buyers.
Overall, my experience was positive. The site is beautiful and full of useful information, but there's room for improvement in speed, search, and inventory transparency to make it truly exceptional.
