The UX on this site is a weird mixture of great and terrible. The very negative part of my shopping experience was repeatedly encountering an “access denied” error after browsing on the site for a period of time. I enjoyed using the virtual try-on feature, but after trying out some colors and then choosing to put something in my cart I’d get an “access denied” error when I tried to continue and had to wait 15-20 minutes to try again. This happened at various times of day - 8am, 10am, 7pm, 10pm, even 1am. It literally took me 2 days to complete my order because I kept getting locked out of the site. Have never had that experience on a shopping site before. If not for the great sale taking place now I’d probably have given up after the second time getting locked out of the site. Also, the virtual try-on is a great feature but it kept crashing while I was using it - again, regardless of time of day. Also I moved several items to “save for later” but then could not figure out how to subsequently access the items I’d saved. It was also hard to find the palettes, I had to use the search function because I couldn’t find them in the nav. The product details and photos are superb and the try-on feature made me feel confident in shopping for cosmetics virtually, which I would not ordinarily feel comfortable with, but it was frustrating how buggy it was. Overall I’d shop here again because I love the quality of Mac products and appreciate the virtual try-on feature, but the frequent crashing and lock-outs created a lot of friction and frustration. I’d expect a higher performance web experience from such a quality brand.
