We have ordered from LL Bean for years and this was a surprisingly disappointing experience. Something with your customer service has changed for the worst.
Usually after placing an order I'm bombarded with emails and calls making sure everything is just right. This was an order I needed as gifts for important clients. The ETA shown online was close to the deadline, and I was not able to select expedited shipping, which I would have done. But I figured I can sort out the details with customer service later. I even put a note on the order about the deadline and to contact me if not possible.
Anyway, never got the usual personal emails or calls after I placed the order. So I sent a couple emails asking about the order, but the "reply within 24 hours" never came. Eventually I called and got a nice customer service person who sounded stressed out and told me they had changed the order system and everything was backed up. I asked about paying more to speed up the shipping and was told nothing could be changed after the order was placed, even shipping, and they can no longer work with dates. Once I sign the docusign to get the order going, it is locked in stone and untouchable.
Anyway, long story short, the order came after the important client meeting...
Honestly your prices have always been high. But we love the quality of LL Bean products and the ease of ordering just 1 custom item. And the customer service used to almost be annoying how much they contacted us to make sure the order was just right. Made the higher price worth it.
And going forward, when time is not an issue, we will still order from here.
But if there is any sort of remote timeframe, for the time being, we will be taking our business elsewhere for faster and cheaper service.
Hope you work out the kinks of this new system and get back to your old selves.
