I recommend buying a wiring harness and a faceplate with your car stereo. Installation went very smoothly on my Pioneer CD/receiver in my Chevy Silverado. In the future I would avoid a JVC product. I installed a JVC product via Crutchfield in the same truck in 2021. It went out recently. I would expect to get more than 4 years out of a car stereo. I did spend a bit more $$$ this time. The JVC was $98 including tax with free shipping (the wiring harness and faceplate kit were included with the JVC). The Pioneer was $147.42 but on this one they are selling the wiring harness ($9.82) and the faceplate kit ($14.73) separately. Crutchfield gave me $7 worth of discounts and it came to $182.15 with tax (free shipping). I certainly do not mind paying $84 more for the Pioneer because I am assuming that it is a superior product to the JVC. I already installed it and it sounds great! Installation went very smoothly and I had it in my truck in about one hour. Also, the instructions in the Pioneer user's manual are MUCH easier to understand. They were extremely complex for the JVC.
