We bought a hybrid camper last fall that needs a few repairs and upgrades. It was time to look into replacing the torn and tattered awning. We did some research online, trying to find a better quality fabric for the replacement as the one that was on it was clearly very cheap. I decided to go to camping world to speak to someone knowledgeable in person. The parts person who helped me contradicted himself so many times I was so confused that I had to just leave the store. He insisted my awning fabric would have a label, I told him it did not. After that, he insisted I had to bring the whole camper to the store and they had to look for the label, that we could not do it ourselves. I did look again, there was no label. He also insisted that only they could do the replacement. After that, I did more online research, including on the camping world website. I found information on the camping world website that clearly stated that I could upgrade the quality of fabric on my awning, but that I had to make sure that it was compatible with my Dometic hardware. This is completely understandable to me. I did end up ordering from the camping world website because the description of the awning I purchased made it sound much better than it actually is. Unfortunately I did still end up getting a cheap quality awning. There are no side hems and the fabric was beginning to fray by the time we were completed with our replacement. We’re strongly hoping that this awning will at least last through the warranty period of 5 years. We’re not confident it will. The online description was just very deceiving. Also, unfortunately, the website states this is a non-returnable product. Fabric quality aside, it would have been nice to have a camping world representative who was more helpful when I made the 55 minute trip to the store.
