I purchased a 4.75 Melowave NMO mag mount. On my first SWR test I was getting 4.99. After checking over the coax, I noticed the 239 adapter was not threaded all the way on. After tightening the adapter, I am getting 1.6 on simplex and 2.6 on the repeater channels. In addition to being above 2 on the SWR, the meter also indicates my 50 watt radio is only has an ERP of 38 watts with the rest reflecting back to the radio. I spoke to the technician and he sent me a label to send it in for testing. He also stated that if they determined there was nothing is defective, I would have to pay to ship it back to me. Honestly, I suspect it will be determined the base is not defective and I would be out an additional $12 for shipping bringing my total investment to $24.99 + $12 + $12 plus taxes for a $24.99 mount. It’s just not worth that to me. I had a similar experience with a Wouxun XS 20G I had to ship back and fourth several time for a defective screen that I paid twice to ship it to BTWR. Unfortunately, I feel like this process is difficult and not worth the effort. 2 of the 3 times I’ve purchased products, I have went through this process. In conclusion, I probably opt to purchase from other vendors.
