I would tell my good friend to go into a store to make the purchase because the online platform is misleading when it comes to sales and discounts. I would give the example that I signed up for a discount to receive notifications and text messages from Aveda and when I went to make the purchase, the discount did not apply. I saw a buried notice somewhere on the website that discounts do not apply to sitewide sales. However, the site wide sale was on body care items of which I was only purchasing one, a men’s aftershave. The other items were two of the largest size shampoo, and conditioner from the Shampure line. All items were gifts for my husband following a surgery. I was very disappointed in this experience overall because I had to dig for the reason on the website, it was not made clear for the consumer, but I’m still not sure if that was the reason. After the purchase, I received a survey that was equally misleading. The email basically stated in exchange for a survey I would receive product valued at $100. Silly me for assuming it would be a Aveda products. Nope. At the end of the survey I was offered magazines valued at $100, that I could then pay for later if I wanted to a subscription. This was clear bait and switch. But worse, there’s no parallel in the two products. It was like comparing apples to dog food. I don’t see any connection between magazines and high-end salon products. I don’t hold onto grudges because they make the person miserable so by the time his gift arrived all is well. Until I opened the box for him. The products appear to be well packaged and protected, so I don’t see any reason that the aftershave box should’ve been crushed and opened. I should not have jostled around during shipping because it was protected by Brown paper packing material so now I can only assume it was thrown into the box that way, which is a whole different level of disappointment in a long string of them this online Aveda purchase. So my good friend, I would steer clear of Aveda online if you want any products, just forego the discounts. Buy them direct from one of the stores if you can find one. I have unsubscribe to the emails and stopped any other form of communication from Aveda has a result of this whole experience. Just don’t fall into the trap.
